Homework 1
Write a scene (or multiple scenes - if you get into a good groove, keep going!)
Here are tips to writing a good scene:
What’s the goal? - This does not need to be complicated. The goal could be as simple as getting someone shoes tied (this shows they are going somewhere - or getting ready to). The goal could be as complicated as the first attempt at acquiring a poison.
Where is it set? - Inside? Outside? in the country? the city?
Who’s in it, and what do they want? They want to get out of where they are.
What’s the conflict? The laces break while tying them.
How will it end? Kicking the shoes of and runs out the door.
Do not worry about the segue unless it is helping you think for now. A segue is just a place holder between scenes - a breather.
